Exciting News: PM World Journal Has Accepted My Article!

It’s been a productive few weeks since I submitted my article to PM World Journal (PMWJ)—and I’m happy to share that it’s been accepted! Two rounds of editing went by faster than expected, and the communication throughout the process has been excellent. The article is scheduled to appear in PMWJ’s December edition as an advisory article, and I’m genuinely excited to see it take shape. Read about why I chose PMWJ! >>

I’m still unsure about the final title. In the original draft, I used “Transforming Project Management with AI,” which felt clear and aligned with the core idea. However, I’ve also been experimenting with Custom GPTs throughout my consulting projects and workshops, and part of me wanted to reflect that in the title. At the same time, “Custom GPTs” might sound too technical or jargon-heavy, which could alienate some readers. I’ve decided to leave this decision to the editor, and they’ll share the final version soon. Whatever they suggest, I trust they’ll find the right balance to make it resonate with PMWJ’s audience.

A large part of what I discuss in the article comes from firsthand experience using AI tools in my own projects and workshops. I’ve had great success integrating Custom GPTs for resource optimization, workflow automation, and risk management, both with oil and gas professionals and as part of my ongoing consulting projects.

Even though I haven’t collected structured data from these experiences, I’ve relied on case studies and practical insights—such as IBM Watson’s predictive analytics for large projects and MachineMetrics’ success with proactive maintenance—to provide solid references. These real-world examples help support my arguments and ensure the article offers both practical relevance and industry credibility.

The timing feels perfect. As we know, AI technology evolves rapidly, and waiting for an academic journal to publish could have risked the ideas becoming outdated. That’s why PMWJ was the right choice—its quick review and publication process allows me to contribute insights while they’re still fresh and relevant. With the December launch, the article will land just as many companies are planning their AI strategies for 2025, making it all the more impactful.

This experience has been both a milestone in my career and a reminder that practical insights are just as valuable as formal research. Now, I can’t wait to see how the project management community responds—and where the conversation takes us next.
